Veterinary Receptionists provide a front-facing service to all clients visiting a veterinary practice, greeting both the patient and owners in a calm and reassuring way. This is a very important role in a practice, and providing a great service can lead to customer continuing to support the business for their pet’s treatments.
Receptionists will answer calls, collect payments for treatments, open mail, and sell pet care items. They may also maintain patient records and schedule appointments, sending reminders to owners.
You’ll need:
excellent customer service skills, both in person and over the telephone, and enjoy working with people
to be confident and out-going
to be thorough and pay attention to detail
patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
to be able to carry out tasks on a computer, keeping accurate records
You may have previous business administration or customer service experience.
Around 35-40 hours per week, with flexibility needed to cover evening and weekend shifts where needed. There will be opportunities to work part-time.
Answer phone calls, which may involve answering questions and scheduling appointments.
Handle incoming and outgoing mail and emails.
Greet clients and let the appropriate nurse or vet know of their arrival.
Update and file patient charts.
Process credit card payments and prepare bank deposits.
Retrieve prescriptions.
Assist with pet care purchases such as pet food, supplements, and grooming items.
Maintain the cleanliness of any client waiting areas.
You’ll be working primarily at the desk of a veterinary practice reception.
