Riding Centre Managers plan and run the centre's activities, manage staff and develop the business. They are responsible for the organisation, operation and marketing of the centre, and for supervising the care of the horses. Some managers are also the business owners.
The centre could offer leisure riding and trekking activities, or more structured horse-riding lessons for children and adults of all abilities.

You’ll need:
a genuine interest in horses and their welfare needs
to work well with others, leading the centre team
to work outdoors in all weathers
good communication and customer service skills
business and commercial management skills
to understand the health and safety considerations of working around horses
patience and be able to stay calm under pressure
A full DBS, Disclosure Scotland or Garda Vetting check will be required if the role involves working with children or vulnerable people.
Centres are situated throughout the UK but are more common in rural parts of the country and in coastal areas. You’ll need a driving license.
Riding Centre Managers work long hours, including evenings and weekends - hours vary with the type and size of the centre, and the season, with summer months being busier.
Organise the riding centre, and welfare and care of the animals
Oversee the management of the horses and ensure treks are suitably planned
Arrange daily routines for horse care and stable management
Market and advertise the centre, liaising with other local countryside and tourism operators to increase business opportunities
Order all supplies including horse food, supplements etc.
Ensure that the business meets health and safety requirements
Carry out administrative and financial activities
Handle customer queries, problems and complaints
Recruit and manage staff, organising work rotas and arranging training
You’ll spend some time working in an office but also work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Apprentices are employees – they have a contract, are paid and get the same benefits as everyone else. But the difference between an apprenticeship and a normal job is that apprentices are regularly released from work for training.
