Over 60% of households in the UK and Ireland own a pet, spending over £4.5 billion on their care and welfare each year. While the UK and Ireland are the largest dog-owning countries in Europe, cat and other small mammal ownership is growing – during the Covid pandemic, we acquired 3.2 million more pets.
That means demand for pet professionals is growing and changing. On average, pet owners spend over £3,000 every year on services like dog walking, grooming, training and pet sitting. Pet owners want people working with their animals to be trained, qualified and professional.
That’s why we’ve worked with the pet industry to develop a range of specialist training courses focused on improving animal welfare and health. Our courses meet all legislative requirements and support the continuing professional development requirements set out in the Animal Welfare Regulations of 2018.
