The Lantra Awards Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Fencing – General Fencing qualification has been developed to provide nationally recognised certification for those working in the fencing industry who have responsibility for installing fencing and fencing components.

This qualification will allow you to develop and demonstrate your competence as a fencing operative to work safely, effectively and efficiently, reducing unnecessary risks to yourself and others.

The following pathways are available:

  • Strained systems
  • Non-strained systems.

Who should attend?

This qualification meets the requirements set by the industry for those seeking to work in general fencing and provides foundation learning for an apprentice starting within the industry.

In order to generate the evidence required for achievement of this qualification, you must either be working as an operative within the fencing sector or have a work placement where you will be installing and/or maintaining fencing.

As you'll appreciate, this qualification contains some practical activity that will require a minimum level of fitness. If you have any concerns, please speak to your Provider.

What will be covered?

This qualification contains the knowledge, skills and behaviours relating to the following:

  • Monitoring and mantaining health and safety
  • Locating and identifying services
  • Establishing lines and levels on-site
  • Receiving, handling and storing fencing materials on-site
  • Preparing and operating handheld power tools and attachments
  • Excavating foundations and installing posts
  • Mechanically driving posts into position
  • Manually driving posts into position
  • Preparing foundations and install surface mounted posts
  • Tensioning and scuring strained wire systems
  • Placing and fixing fencing components
  • Reinstating defective fencing.
