The ‘Airgun Proficiency Course’ (APC) is designed to provide professional operatives and recreational shooters with best practice guidance in the safe use of airguns and the humane dispatch of pests and vermin. 

The theory element of the course is delivered via a series of taught modules and classes on the ‘UK Shooting & Hunting Academy’ an online, e-learning platform and established UK Learning Provider. 

Assessment of the candidates uptake of the theory element is also carried out on the academy platform via a multiple choice exam that requires a pass mark of 80%.

Having completed the theory element of the course, the candidate is expected to then follow this up with an in-field, practical demonstration of safety and skill with an airgun. The assessment for which requires that the candidate handle an airgun safely and place a series of well-aimed shots on a target.

The objective of the ‘Airgun Proficiency Course’ is to ensure that those who intend to use airguns in the dispatch of vermin and pests, are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to be able to humanely dispatch vermin and pests in a safe, professional and humane manner.
