The finer details

Delivery method is demonstration and practical application followed by an end practical assessment with questioning.

This qualification comprises of three mandatory units, and three mandatory/optional units. Learners must achieved all three mandatory units plus one mandatory/optional unit to be awarded the certificate.

Learners will be required to complete two features (non timed) which are then assessed, and a timed assessment of a retaining wall.

Providing the Learner has met the rules of combination, Learners may choose to enhance their qualification with any of the other mandatory/optional units available.

Who should attend?

This qualification develops the ability to build more advanced pieces of work with an emphasis on finish and quality, including the building of more complex special features such as retaining walls, high walls and curves.

As you will appreciate, this course contains practical activity that will require a minimum level of fitness.

What will be covered?

The aim of this qualification is to illustrate the Learners knowledge, skills, and behaviours relating to their:

Mandatory units:

  • ability to meet contractual specifications and client needs
  • ability to strip and rebuild a retaining dry stone wall
  • ability to build a curved dry stone wall.

Mandatory/optional units:

  • ability to build a dry stone wall on sloping ground
  • ability to build a high dry stone wall
  • ability to incorporate an opening into a dry stone wall.
