Combined distance learning and practical training to develop your existing equine skills into a vocational career in professional saddle fitting.

Five days intensive practical training is required which includes a practical assessment of competence.

All of the necessary tools, accessories and learning materials are provided. Students should have access to at least 10 horses to complete their externship however we can provide access to horses if required at additional cost. Distance aspects of the learning can be completed via a mobile digital device such as a smartphone or tablet and access to such a device or computer is essential as is internet access with the ability to take and upload digital photographs.

Who should attend?

Horse owners and riders with a passion for equine welfare and a minimum of 10 years equestrian experience. 

What will be covered?

Learn to communicate professionally with clients and equine professionals including Veterinarians using appropriate terminology.

Learn to conduct a thorough and accurate assessment of the horse, saddle and rider

Learn how to make appropriate saddle recommendations and source appropriate saddles to meet the requirements

Learn how to carry out on site adjustments to remedy saddle fitting issues

Learn how to carry out basic saddlery repairs such as replacing girth straps, un-lacing and re-lacing panels and leather stitching.

Learn how to create in-depth saddle fitting reports and develop a maintenance plan alongside para professionals
