The outline of the course is to learn the fundamentals of a systems operation, components, efficient use, set-up, maintenance, and technology.  

This includes learning practical skills to install and set-up valves, sprinklers, and pipework.

  1. Understand the purpose of Turfgrass Irrigation
  2. Understand safe operation of an irrigation system
  3. Understand water sources for irrigation
  4. Identify the components of an irrigation system
  5. Understand pipe materials and joints
  6. Understand the fundamentals of shut down and pressurising the irrigation system
  7. How to identify faults on the system, sprinklers and electrical
  8. Understand flow and precipitation rates from valves and sprinklers
  9. Understand integrated irrigation technology
  10. How to install and set-up sprinklers and valves,
  11. How to join irrigation cables
  12. How to connect compression and glue irrigation pipework

Worth noting: Irrigation design is not included in this course; however, a separate top-up course in automatic irrigation design is available, 'Turfgrass Irrigation Design (Part Two)'
