The aim of this two-day course is to develop your understanding of the principles of scanning and to gain knowledge of a sound ovine scanning technique. With a combination of both theory and extensive hands-on practical training.

Knowing if your ewes are in lamb and if they are carrying single or multiple lambs plays a very important part in flock management. Identifying the ewes carrying multiple lambs allows management groups to be formed and fed accordingly.

- Identify and purchase the correct equipment
- Know the correct preparation of ewes to give effective identification of pregnancies and identify any embryo problems
- Identity ewes carrying multiple lambs which, allows management groups to be formed to allow correct feed management.
- Know the importance of Biosecurity: having adequate working practices in place to prevent the introduction and or spread of infections. Ensure what hygiene precautions need to be adhered to between farms.
- Recognize notifiable diseases within your flock
- Scan ewes in a consistent manner
