In order to keep your skills up to date refresher training should be carried out every three to five years.

The Lantra Ground based chainsaw and windblown refresher (Coillte) course has been developed to meet the requirements for those working with chainsaws for Coillte.

The modules in this course have been selected for a specific employer for those who are self employed or working for different companies other courses may be more suitable, please contact your training provider to discuss your personal training needs. 

The finer details

This is a refresher course to hone knowledge and skills in maintaining a chainsaw, cross-cutting and felling trees up to and over 380mm.

Your instructor will assess your performance throughout the course to ensure that your skills meet current best practice.

This is a hands-on course that delivers both practical skills and health and safety guidance as well as demonstrating that you and your employer have completed sufficient training to meet the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).

Worth noting: Our course involves some physical sessions, so it is essential that you have at least a minimum level of fitness.

Who should attend?

This refresher is for those who work in the forestry sector for Coillte and have previously completed a chainsaw maintenance and Cross-Cutting, Felling up to 380mm and felling over 380mm and wish to refresh their skills.
