About

Our DIY AI Courses are delivered over 3 days, Approved by DEFRA and LANTRA. 85% of the course time is devoted to hands-on tuition, so that the dexterity skills required have adequate time to be mastered. In order for DIY AI to be effective, the operator needs good practical training backed up by a thorough understanding of the principals involved and the anatomy and physiology of the animals concerned. In order to carry out Do It Yourself (DIY) Artificial Insemination you must have completed a DEFRA Approved training course.

The finer details

All aspects of AI are covered, including anatomy and physiology, legislation, safe handling of Liquid Nitrogen and semen straws, thawing procedures and the practical AI technique. After gaining the technique on abattoir specimens or models, you will practise the skill on live cows, on farm. This on-farm environment gives a very relaxed training atmosphere. Assessment of the technique is done by ultrasound examination.
