As well as the practical benefits, this course also prepares learners for Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticide using Vehicle Mounted or Trailed Wick Type Applicators.

Pesticides are widely used across many land-based industries.

But they can be potentially harmful substances. 

It's essential they are handled, applied and stored correctly.

Our course will teach you to do just that. 

It's designed for anyone who uses pesticides as part of their work.

The finer details

Our course involves a balanced mix of theory and practical work.

We'll run through pesticide legislation and the key safety issues. 

You'll be taught the basics of what the applicator is and what it can do.

Field work will then be followed by a rundown of decontamination techniques.

Course sessions:

  • Basics of wick type application
  • Hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • The working principles of wick type applicators
  • Preparation of the applicator for work
  • Calibration in practice
  • Mixing, filling and site work
  • Decontamination, storage and record keeping
  • Fault finding and conclusions.

Worth noting: The length of this course will depend on your experience. If you're a novice, it will run over two days.

To be eligible, you must have already attended our Safe Use of Pesticides course.
