Who should attend?

Our two-day novice training course is for anyone employed in the horticulture, landscaping, and grounds maintenance industry that may wish to install an artificial surface.

If you are inexperienced then you may require longer than the stated guide times to fully understand the information and training provided.

Completion of this course will enable you to apply for your blue skilled worker LISS/CSCS card. 

What will be covered?

By the end of this course, you'll:

  • Understand the legal requirements for safe working with artificial surfaces
  • Be able to provide detail on the history of artificial grass surfaces
  • Be able to describe the various types of artificial grass and application methods
  • Have knowledge of considerations and factors to be taken into account onsite, noting the importance of job risk assessments and points to be raised with the client
  • Have knowledge of considerations to be made in terms of the drainage and tests to carry out to determine the drainage situation on site
  • Be able to select the best tools for the job and identify other equipment used in the trade
  • Be able to describe the batch matching and installation process of artificial surfaces
  • Have knowledge of key maintenance and aftercare information in order to prolong the life of an artificial grass surface
  • Be able to look at ways of working in an environmentally sensitive way to enhance the surrounding, while minimising any harmful and negative effects on the environment.
