This is an ideal introduction to expertly handling and maintaining an Emergency Services Chainsaw.
You will learn all the theory needed to use and keep a chainsaw running safely, with key sessions covering: Health & Safety, PPE, safety features, maintenance plus applying appropriate operational techniques.
You will gain hands on experience of starting a chainsaw, completing pre-cutting tests, safety checks, and learn the skills needed to operate the chainsaw to cut through a range of different materials.

Who should attend?
Emergency Services personnel who need to operate an Emergency Services Chainsaw.
What will be covered?
By the end of the course learners will:
- Know safety legislation and guidelines
- Know appropriate Chainsaw PPE, plus additional PPE required to use the MS461R
- Know the safety features, function and capabilities of the MS461R
- Be able to complete routine maintenance of the MS461R
- Be able to fit/adjust depth limiter, adjust depth of cut, tension the saw chain
- Be able to carry out pre-cutting safety checks and start the machine from cold and hot
- Be able to apply the correct stance and cutting techniques to cut various materials (eg glass, metal sandwich panel, single skin metal panel, composite sandwich panel)
- Understand the procedures if a chainsaw becomes trapped.
