12C General Operative Training / Assessment

Who should attend?

All persons who will be required by their employer to work on motorways and or high-speed dual carriageways as a mobile lane closure operative (advance sign vehicle driver).

What will be covered?

On completion of this course you will:

• be aware of sector schemes and general health and safety at work
• be aware of reference documentation relevant to Mobile Lane Closure techniques
• be able to conduct pre-works checks on MLC advance warning vehicles and trailers
• understand the roles and responsibilities of an MLC operative
• understand the principles and practical techniques when carrying out Mobile Lane Closures

Other areas of interest

Full 12C Operative status can be gained by completing the 12C Operative training course and minimum of 3 practical assessments are required.  The assessments must be completed within a two-year period starting from the date of the 1^st assessment.  The registration as an NHSS12C Operative will only become effective if both the 12C Operative logbook of assessments have been completed AND the one-day 12C Operative course certificate/skill is valid.

 Fully qualified 12C MLC Operatives looking to gain supervisory status, must first complete the steps above and compete the 12C Supervisor training and assessments.  For more information on the 12C Supervisor course please search for this course on our website.
