For professional chainsaw operators working in forestry and arboriculture the industry recommendation is that for ’high risk‘ activities the minimum level of adequacy of training is to a certificate of competence or nationally recognised qualification where assessment is carried out independently of the training. This qualification meets this requirement’

Our course offers a balanced mix of theory and practical sessions across 22 hours of guided learning.
It covers the knowledge and skills required to safely carry out aerial rescue operations.
This will include knowing, and being able to work to, industry best practice standards.
Quality Assurance policies are in place to ensure that all assessments meet the independent assessment requirements for this sector.

This qualification is designed to meet the training gaps within these sectors and will encourage you to develop your knowledge, understanding, and skills to support their role(s) and develop your career in varied forestry and arboriculture situations under minimal guidance or direction.
This Qualification will enhance the ability of you to work safely, effectively and efficiently in the workplace, reducing unnecessary risks to themselves and others.
Due to the nature of the Qualification a minimum level of fitness would be required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage any learner it is an essential requirement.
Several of the units are identified as being relevant towards certain work-based qualifications developed, approved and supported by Lantra Sector Skills Council. Learners undertaking these units may have the credit gained counted towards the achievement of work-based qualifications approved by the sector(s).
What will be covered?
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
Confirm occupational competence and/or licence to practice
Confirm your ability to meet licence to practice or other legal requirements made by the relevant sector, professional or industry
Gain knowledge and understanding across a range of forestry and arboriculture functions and activities
Assess your ability to work effectively in a forestry and arboriculture environment, both independently and as part of a team
Be able to review and develop your own practices and carry out a range of practical forestry and arboriculture tasks to the required industry standard
Improve your awareness of health and safety legislation and how individuals can contribute to the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) agenda.
