Terrafirma Training Ltd
celebrates 2,000 learners on
their bespoke Severe Weather
& Off-Road Driving training course

Reaching a significant milestone in the delivery of their bespoke 4x4 specialist driving course - Severe Weather and Off-Road Driving (SWORD) - Terrafirma Training Ltd (TFT) recently presented Keith Kirwan of Kildare Civil Defence a celebratory certificate in recognition of him being the 2000th Learner.

Since 2018 TFT’s Founder and chief instructor, Kevin Jones, has worked closely with the Civil Defence to create a course tailored to meet industry needs. The course covers health and safety and risk assessment, route planning, vehicle and equipment familiarisation, severe weather off-road driving and vehicle recovery. The course is more about getting the volunteers used to the vehicles that they would be driving whilst undertaking their duties.

This course, which is Lantra accredited, was initially conceived due to a requirement for this type of training for Irish Civil Defence Units. Subsequently, other government agencies and bodies have taken up the one-day course, including the National Ambulance Service, Fire & Rescue, Mountain Rescue, and numerous voluntary emergency services such as the Irish Red Cross, Order of Malta etc.

Founder and Chief Instructor, Kevin Jones said: "We are delighted at TFT to be presenting a bespoke Lantra accredited course which has been received by many organisations as a fit for purpose one-day course."

TFTs vision for 2023 onwards is to launch SWORD in the UK and further afield.
