Lantra is urging people to celebrate the festive season while thinking of wildlife and the environment too.
Lantra is supporting a sustainable approach to Christmas by recommending a number of measures which will ensure people enjoy a fantastic Christmas while thinking about the planet.
There are many inventive initiatives across the country aimed at promoting sustainable Christmas trees, and indeed a sustainable Christmas as a whole.
Surrey County Council has launched an innovative initiative, in partnership with Surrey Wildlife Trust, to encourage local residents, who choose to buy a real Christmas tree, to donate £3 to plant a new tree in the area.
The Council is working with the Surrey Wildlife Trust, which supports the planting of 1.2million new trees in the county by 2030.
The Countryside Charity is also urging people to add beauty to their environment by using this Christmas to think of the climate and make a touching gesture by planting a tree for a loved one.
Renting Christmas trees during the festive season has also become very popular in recent years.
The scheme is hugely beneficial to the environment as people can rent a living tree then return it to the rental centre for it to continue to grow, remove carbon monoxide from the atmosphere and provide habitats for wildlife.
Lantra supports sustainability at Christmas, and at all times of the year, by encouraging people to think green.
