Since September 2021, Lantra has offered a Level 3 Veterinary Nursing Work-Based Diploma, working in partnership with a range of industry stakeholders, before achieving full accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, RCVS, for both the Small Animal and Equine qualifications.
The qualification requires two and a half to three years of study, with multiple assessments and methodologies, as well as the final OSCE. To recognise the hard work and dedication of learners achieving the qualification, Lantra hosted a Graduation Ceremony for learners to attend.
On Saturday 6th July, 25 newly qualified veterinary nurses, along with their support networks attend an inaugural prestigious event held at St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry. The ceremony saw the awarding of certificates to each of the veterinary nurses, as well as them being able to complete their RCVS declaration which allows them to be join the RCVS Register of Veterinary Nurses, allowing them to practise in the UK. The induction was led by Simon Williams from RCVS.
As part of the event, Lacey Pitcher, practising Veterinary Nurse and editor of VN Times, gave a keynote address to the ceremony, inspiring the newly qualified learners just starting out in their career.
Commenting on the ceremony, Sean Duffy, Head of Veterinary Nursing at Lantra, said: “We’re delighted to be able to host such a ceremony to celebrate the astounding efforts from the newly qualified Veterinary Nurses. I wish them all well in their future careers.”
Lacey Pitcher RVN, keynote speaker for the ceremony, added: “It was a real honour to be able to give the keynote for this ceremony. It’s so important we recognise the tireless effort, dedication and subsequent achievements of the future of our profession and encourage widening participation."
Lantra continues to offer Veterinary Nursing across the UK and is looking forward to celebrating the next ceremony in 2025.
