Why is the Arboricultural Industry so awesome? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact it’s a growing industry that offers a variety of careers, contributes £709 million per year to UK GDP, and it comes with an amazing community of people.
14 July saw the Women in Arb group host a webinar in which 50 people, both men and women, joined the Arb discussion.
The webinar covered some of the potential careers in Arboriculture and why it’s such a great industry to work in, for both genders.
Some of job roles that were focused on in the Webinar included Contractor Work, Consultancy, and roles in Training and Education.
The different job roles have so much to offer whether it be Climbing or Surveying, Contract Managing or Instructing. You can find out more about what’s involved in the different roles by visiting our 12 Faces of Arb articles which can be found on our website, in the Insights section.
Stella Bolam, one of the event attendees commented:
‘‘I found the webinar really interesting and thought it gave a good overview about the types of roles and careers available in arboriculture.
‘I had no knowledge about this sector before but came away with lots of advice and information and am going to look into volunteering opportunities local to me as a starting point to exploring a possible new career path in this sector.”
At Lantra Awards we work very closely with the Arboriculture Association to develop training and qualifications that enable people to work safely in an industry that can at times be dangerous. We have a Network of Approved Provider Partners and trusted Instructors who support us by delivering the training that we develop.
Our very own Woman in Arb, Mandy Maynard is one of the leading figures in the group. After helping run the webinar she spoke to us:
“I was absolutely delighted with the interest our recent webinar attracted.
‘Lockdown has done nothing to dampen the spirits of this sector – if anything it has ignited even more passion into an even wider audience.
‘We’re looking forward to seeing a real surge in interest and we’re confident Lantra’s courses and qualifications will ensure safety always comes first”.
