Training for Success

Training for Success is a new government scheme in Northern Ireland which can:

  • Give you the skills you need to find work

  • Provide further training to turn a job into a career.

There are two levels to Training for Success: Job-Ready and Apprenticeships.

Job-Ready

Job-Ready gives you the skills and the confidence to find work.

It trains you in the basic skills and qualifications you will need to begin working in your chosen profession. You will have the chance to experience different jobs and decide what form of training is best for you.

The scheme pays a weekly allowance of £40. Travelling expenses and contributions towards lodgings and/or childcare costs may also be paid.

Once you gain recognised basic skills and qualifications, you can move on to an apprenticeship.

Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is a work-based training programme aimed primarily at young people at the start of their career. Apprenticeships offer young people the opportunity to ‘earn and learn’, to be employed within their chosen industry and learn the skills they need through a combination of work-based and off-the-job training.
