The Sector Learning Partnership (SLP) comprises senior managers from colleges, work-based and group training associations to support Lantra’s vision of developing a world-class workforce for the environmental and land-based sector.
The group has evolved to consider needs and trends in education and training provision and to provide strategic input and guidance for Lantra into the development of policies, products and services. Members are consulted during the development of key sectoral agreements such as the environmental and land-based Sector Skills Agreement and the Sector Qualifications Strategy. Members will play a key role in the development of Lantra’s strategy for FE and HE.
Particular examples of the SLP’s contribution to Lantra’s work in raising business performance has been its role in promoting the use of CourseFinder, in the collation of evidence of employer engagement and the development of a National Student Database as part of Lantra’s Online Competence Framework. The SLP has also worked with Lantra to influence the development of the new quality criteria for Part B (sector specific) of the new Training Quality Standard for England.
In addition the SLP works with Lantra to influence and lobby for changes to meet industry needs. In response to the recent Webb Review of FE in Wales, Lantra is working with SLP members to ensure that the learning provision within Wales is maintained appropriately for the environmental and land-based sector. Chief Executive of Landex and SLP member, Vic Croxson, recently thanked Lantra for its support during the successful campaign for a specialist resources programme weigthing to attract adequate resources to deliver land-based qualifications at colleges in England.
The group is central to the whole area of workforce development by improving access to education and training, increasing the uptake of learning and supporting the underpinning desire to promote excellence in learning.
