Business Forward

Do you want to improve your business performance?

Business Forward offers rural businesses based in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly working in agriculture, animal care, animal technology, aquaculture, environmental conservation, equine, farriery, fencing, fisheries management, floristry, game conservation, land-based engineering, landscaping, horticulture, forestry and veterinary nursing the opportunity to access 100% funding to make sure these businesses grow.

Business Forward is a new European Social Fund Project with 100% funding available to eligible applicants who work to improve their businesses performance whilst also becoming better qualified.

This project aims to help local employers progress their business ideas or strategies. Ultimately, the employers and/or business owners in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are responsible for making their business a success, so the more knowledge, information and industry contacts they have at their fingertips, the better.

This project aims to help local employers progress their business ideas or strategies. Ultimately, the employers and/or business owners in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are responsible for making their business a success, so the more knowledge, information and industry contacts they have at their fingertips, the better.

Many different business proposals and plans can be explored and progressed with the help of Business Forward, such as a business plan, marketing strategy, customer service provision, management of staff or working out if an investment is worthwhile.  Participants can work on their existing business or a new venture.

The project provides fully funded guidance and support from industry experts.  An expert consultant will meet with individual participants at their place of work and provide guidance, knowledge and information as the project is progressed.  With 100% funding, the consultant is free!  In addition, the course fees are 100% funded, so a qualification in a management-related accreditation is a real bonus.

Many people are assessing the viability of projects through Business Forward with a view to submission of an application to the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) for a grant for the capital costs of getting a project up and running.

Participants can study towards, for example, an NVQ or VRQ qualification in agriculture or livestock production.  With 100% funding, course fees are free!

Business Forward also offers funding support for apprenticeship programmes in Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly in a range of rural sector businesses.

Apprenticeships are a package of learning whilst the apprentice is employed in a vocation and can offer employers a valuable and committed team member.

Apprenticeships provide high quality vocational training to meet employers’ demands for capable and motivated young people.  As well as training for the job, a wide range of broader skills are also developed which include communication skills, IT, problem solving and working with others.
