Industry groups

Lantra’s industry groups work to increase investment in skills and business development, influence the provision of learning and business support and to provide evidence of industry needs. Lantra has 15 industry groups, which represent the 17 industries in the sector.  Each group is made up of businesses and individuals from within each specific industry.

Industry groups are vitally important to employers, employees and volunteers in the sector as they ensure that training and skill needs are met by the training available to them. The objectives of all Lantra’s industry groups are:

  • To determine the skills needs of the industry and strategies to meet them.

  • To represent the views of businesses and individuals engaged within an industry to government and its agencies and to inform Lantra’s work programmes.

  • To increase Lantra’s understanding of current economic, business and individual needs within the industry and, to provide expert technical knowledge and industry specific information as appropriate.

  • To set, monitor and be accountable for the delivery of the industry specific action plans.

  • To champion by example and influence the development of a culture of learning and business development in the industry.
